The Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA) invites you to join our mid-November 2017 Accredited Waste Managment Training course (Level 1, USD 119303).

The programme facilitates critical thinking regarding waste management in South Africa. The training will focus on the handling and disposal of waste and attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the latest trends in this dimension of waste management.

The IWMSA Accredited Waste Management Training will be of great interest to all individuals and organisations in the waste industry. These sessions are a must for delegates to contribute to the development of effective waste management practices in 2017 and beyond!

Course logistics

  • Face-to-face training will take place on the first day and the morning of the second day of the course.
  • Summative Assessments will be done on the afternoon of the second day of the course.
  • Training time: 8:00-16:00 daily.
  • A light lunch will be served.

Purpose of the course

The purpose of this course is for delegates to perform effectively in the field of environmental science, environmental management and waste management. 

After the training you will be able to:

  • Identify, categorise, collect, handle and dispose of different types of waste.
  • Use appropriate terminology to describe waste related issues.
  • Understand the importance of correctly managing waste and how this relates to sustainable development.
  • Appreciate the range and nature of waste collection and transportation systems available within the industry.

You will also know and understand:

  • How waste interrelates with the environment.
  • The importance of working safely with due care for the environment and the health and well-being of yourself and others.
