The Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa's (IWMSA) EC Branch looks forward to hosting a one-day Waste Legislation Course.

Please join us for this IWMSA Recognised Training Course. We have developed a separate one-day training programme and excluded it from our Hazardous Waste Management programme to allow more time for interactive sessions and greater learner understanding.

This program includes a written knowledge test for the facilitator to determine if the candidates understand the contents of the material.

The course is IWMSA recognised and is lectured by a facilitator with years of experience in the waste field and provides comprehensive coverage of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008. This course would be valuable to all persons responsible for any waste activity within their organisation.

The course is lectured with intermittent learner exercises and culminates in a written examination.

Aim of the course

The aim of the course is to introduce learners to the International Conventions and South African legislation applicable to the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

What topics will be covered?

  • The topics to be covered during the session include:
  • Environmental Principles and International Agreements
  • Domestic Waste Legislation
  • Domestic Policies, Strategies and Standards

Speak, read and write in English to NQF Level 4.

Please note:

  • Course fees include tea and coffee and a light lunch.
  • A minimum of eight (8) paid-for delegates are required for the course to take place.
