Landfill and Waste Treatment 2021 Virtual Seminar and Exhibition

This year will be different…we are going VIRTUAL!

The Landfill and Waste Treatment Interest Group KZN Branch will host the IWMSA’s biennial landfill seminar and exhibition from Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 November 2021.
Traditionally known as “Landfill (year)”, the seminar has been renamed “Landfill and Waste Treatment 2021”, because the IWMSA understands that the traditional focus on landfill, whilst essential, must be complemented with alternative waste management solutions to form an “Integrated Waste Management Facility”.

More about this virtual seminar and exhibition

A virtual event brings with it many new and exciting opportunities. This virtual Seminar and Exhibition will be accessible to all in Southern Africa and abroad, allowing the whole Landfill and Waste Management Industry to participate and contribute.  With no travel and accommodation costs, attending this high-value, low-cost seminar will be easier than before!

The organisers will ensure delivery of an unforgettable event with outstanding content while providing many opportunities for attendees to make meaningful connections with sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and other attendees.

Given the suite of waste management legislation that government has instituted, the theme adopted for the 2021 seminar is.

“Waste Management Facilities – Have we Reached Our Destination?”

Who should participate?

Although the event typically attracts 120-150 delegates, more than 200 are expected to join the virtual seminar. Delegates will include decision makers and influencers involved in the design and operation of integrated waste management facilities.

This seminar will provide a virtual technical forum for a gathering of leading experts, including scientists, landfill operators, company owners, municipal entities, government authorities, and other professionals interested in the science of waste management.

Closing date for all exhibition bookings & registrations: 14 October 2021

Thibault Dechamps

Presentation On: “Preserving our environment through effectively densifying and shrinking waste”

Thibault Dechamps is the specialist for Waste & Recycling applications in Europe, Africa, Middle East & Eurasia. He joined the Caterpillar Industrial & Waste – Work Tool Group in 2009. Over the course of his 20+ years career with Caterpillar, he has supported customers and dealerships in different regions of the world, including North & South Americas

Waste affects our environment in several ways and if not managed effectively, it may pose negative effects on our surroundings. The use of products and solutions that focus on densifying and shrinking waste play a critical role in preserving nature. By densifying and shrinking waste, we are able to conserve landfill space while contributing immensely in building a more sustainable future. It is therefore important to make use of products and solutions which can guarantee:

  • Reliability - machines which are readily available to ensure efficiency in operations
  • Durability - machines designed to withstand conditions for their purpose-based application
  • Onsite support - After sales support
  • Performance - correct machine configuration as per application
  • Safety - seat belt, cameras, reverse hooter, PDS and other safety features
  • Operator comfort - seat type (air suspension/ mechanical suspension)
  • Serviceability - determined by the deal package (Warranty, CVA etc.)
  • Efficiency - determined by the application and the operator (maximum density in less passes)
  • Technology - advanced compaction measurement (used to avoid over/ under compaction)

It is no secret that customers opt for solutions that provide them with the most value. In this session, participants will get an opportunity to highlight their needs and be part of a discussion which is solutions focused.
